“I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.  I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.  I will set no wicked thing before my eyes...”  Psalm 101:1-3a

I don't know if many of you have ever given thought to the homepage of your computer - the homepage being the first page that you see when you go to the internet.  I know I hadn't thought about it until a few years ago and today I was reminded of my reasons why, and I think I shall share them with you all.  (Just know that these are my reasons and it works for me, I am in no way condemning or judging anyone who does differently - this is just some food for thought! )

Firstly my home page when I go onto the internet is Bible.com.  I recommend it for your favourites as it has some great keyword and scripture searches and many other neat and usefully features!  The one feature I really like is the 'verse of the day' feature - and that is where the Psalm verse above is from.  It was the verse of the day as I logged on to come write for you all - which in turn directed this post - Yeah for divine inspiration!

I chose this as my homepage because some years ago I got to thinking...the internet is a wealth of knowledge, an amazing ability to stay connected and a horrible playground for the devil!  My husband and I used to keep Google as our homepage - made sense - usually when we went onto the internet we were searching out something, recipes, info, etc.  But as I was thinking I also realized that it left us open to allow the search to direct us, in that starting this way could lead to other avenues...

So checking through my favourites I re-found this little gem of a site, Bible.com and set it to our homepage.  Not only that but I made a promise to always - yes always - to read the verse of the day, before doing anything else!!!  Like the Psalm says, I will set no wicked thing before my eyes, and I wish to behave myself wisely in a perfect way.

I find that I may not always glean wisdom or insight from the daily verse, or I may not even remember it ten minuets later (bad I know) but I do know that on many occasions it has encouraged me, lifted me up, strengthened me and gave me that reassurance that only the scriptures can.  I like starting my internet/computer time with God's word - it sets the tone for what I am going to do from that point on and leads my heart and spirit in the right direction.

Now I'm not saying this is the way it needs to be for everyone, set your homepage to what suits you - I just like having mine set on God.
