Easter Weekend

Wow, what a wonderful Easter weekend!  For those of us who live in Eastern Ontario anyways, it was gorgeous, absolutely beautiful!  It was hot, sunny, breezy and sublime!!!  I LOVED IT!

We spent the Friday visiting with my mom, (it was her Birthday!) and then home to do labour intensive yard work.  Though a beautiful day, I couldn't help but remember the true reason for the Holiday.  Jesus' death, all those years ago.  Here I was enjoying a beautiful blessing of a day, while over 2000 years ago my Saviour died.  My husband and I laboured away at our grunt work, hot, sweaty and blisters a growing and I could not help but think, "This is nothing, nothing compared to the sufferings of Christ on the cross."  We worked hard and in silence most of the time, possibly both of us pondering the same thing, "how can we complain about our aches and pains - it just wouldn't be right!".  The work got done and in a relatively short time.  Though we accomplished much it did not match the accomplishment of Christ when He gave His life for us. Thank you Lord!

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and the will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.  Matthew 20:18-19

Saturday was gorgeous weather again and my husband and his brother put up shutters on our house.  One's we had fished out of a dumpster - there lovely antique ones - people throw away the most amazing things.  I hope none of you threw away any chances to honour, worship and thank God this weekend!

And in that day you will say, give thanks to the Lord, call on His name make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.  Isaiah 12:4
The clouds hung in the sky on Sunday, no not looming ones, but fat fluffy ones, the kind you just want to reach up and hug!  It was too gorgeous a day to spend in the city - so we left!  Packed up some snacks, coffee (of course) and headed to the country.  Before we left home I had been feeling drained and a little ill - but not 15 minuets into our drive, with the spring breeze blowing through the car, did I not come around and feel alive!  Nothing like driving and exploring the country side and the beauty of God's handy work to make me feel good.  Hens my desire to move to the open country side.  (But that's a whole other story! ;) )

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises to our God on the lyre, who covers the heavens with clouds, who provides rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains.  ...He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.  He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes.  He casts forth His ice as fragments; who can stand before His cold?  He sends forth His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.  Praise the Lord!  Psalm 147:7,8,15-18, 20b

All in all we had a most lovely and blessed weekend!  We fit in lots of family fun, which was very nice and muchly needed.  We celebrated the cross and what it means to us, we gave thanks to God for His provision and to Jesus for His sacrifice.  It was a refreshing and wonderful Eater weekend and I hope yours was too!

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same  image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.  2 Corinthians 3:18
