Home Projects

Wow, what a whirl wind weekend!  Friday morning I was entertaining family and extended family, and then by Friday night my house was torn apart, all of our furniture from the downstairs was crammed into our kitchen and my husband and I were going at our floors with power sanders!

For those of you who have joined us, that is, become fans of Homemaker Design on Facebook, you will (hopefully) have noticed the encouragement to get some type of Home Project done this weekend.  Now I don't like to be one of those people who will ask something of someone that I would not do myself, so hence the floor re-do.

My husband and I have been renovating our house for the past 2 years now, but lately we feel that God has it that we need to be working more on it - (note the hint about the possibility of moving to the county in a previous post) We are not sure exactly why or what God has in store for us, but any time we doubt or think we should slow down - something comes along to encourage us onwards!

We have been wanting to re-do our old worn floors since we bought the house, but the timing and money never seemed to line up.  Then just Thursday our gst check arrived and Friday one grandparent wanted our oldest for a sleep over and BAM - move the furniture and rent some sanders!

Let me tell you, if you haven't ever done this yourself, I now understand why those who do this for a living charge that rate they do - and frankly I think they under charge!  I won't bore you with the details, just that it was hard, hard work, very little sleep.  (As we only had the weekend to finish this, because there was no way I was going to start this week with two kids and only one usable room to be in!) but a wonderful and rewarding outcome.

Though tired, extremely tired,  and very sore - my husband and I both enjoyed ourselves this weekend.  It was great to get the project finished and we broke it up with wonderful drives through the country side (waiting for the varnish to dry).

So there you have it, my weekend Home Project! Now, I want to see yours, get to it! ;)
