Spectrum of Light

This is the first post in my new Spectrum of Light series.  This is for my photo blogging on colour, (see Autumn Days and Colour) where in my hope is to bring attention to the beauty and colour of God's world, the world that is all around you.

Why "Spectrum of Light" well, funny thing is it was a name I had originally picked (many moons ago) for a blog.  The reason being is that when you look up colour (or color) the definition given is;

So there you have the very technical reason we see colour and now, it is my aim to show you the beauty of it all.  I am starting in the most colour rich season, (well in Ontario anyways) that is, Autumn.  It's a good starting point as we will be leading into the winter months that so many of us see as void of colour and life.  I want to show you the obvious and not so obvious colour that surrounds us.  For some of you this may be a task you are already accustomed to, for others well you may relate to this story;

As I was out taking pictures of a beautiful corn field a police officer slowed her car down to inquire about what I was doing.  "Taking pictures of corn are we?" she asked quite skeptical.
"Uh, yes, I am!"  I replied.
"OK then..." she waited, I felt I owed her an explanation.
I responded sheepishly, "I'm an artist."
"You'd have to be!" she said, "I just see a field of dead corn!"

Well for all of you who can relate to the officer's observation, I'd just like to say; take another look!

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His name; give to Him glorious praise!  Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds!"  Psalm 66:1-3

  2. Beautiful pictures, Kaitlin!! You really have an eye for turning something that we'd usually just pass by into something lovely to look at!

    PS, that cop must've been having a pretty slow day, haha

  3. Thanks Stephanie and Jennie, glad you girls like the photos! Jennie: yeah she might have been, but since I wanted her to see what I saw I went home and printed off one of the pictures of the corn and delivered it to the station...she wasn't there so I don't know what she thought, but hopefully she'll enjoy it! Love your comments ladies, thanks again!
